Tuvalu

Tuvalu acceded to the Convention on 13 September 2011, with the Convention  entering into force for Tuvalu on 1 March 2012.

Obligations under the Convention

Tuvalu does not retain mines for permited purposes under Article 3.

It is not yet known if Tuvalu does or does not have stockpiles of anti-personnel mines that it will need to destroy under Article 4.

It is believed that Tuvalu does not have any obligations under Article 5.

Annually and no later than 30 April, each State Party is to update information covering the previous calendar year. Tuvalu has not yet submitted its initial Article 7 report.

Each State Party is to take all appropriate legal, administrative and other measures, including the imposition of penal sanctions, to prevent and suppress any activity prohibited to a State Party under this Convention undertaken by persons or on territory under its jurisdiction or control.

Tuvalu is still required to report on established national implementation measures or whether it considers existing legislation to be sufficient.
